Year 5 Enjoy Science
"I caught a newt and I never normally find anything!" Lily
"Our teacher does impersonations of the creatures we are looking for so that we can tell what they are. She is really funny. If you get muddled about some of the long names, Dr Blackmore breaks the words into bits so that you can remember how to spell them." Georgia
"It is fun to go outside and find bugs instead of looking at them in books. We found lots of tadpoles, some snails, pond-skaters, diving beetles and best of all, a newt." Nicole
Science in the junior school exploits your child’s natural curiosity and love of ‘learning by doing’. From Kindergarten, pupils begin to observe, experiment, investigate, predict and talk about what they have discovered. Subject specialisation in Years 4, 5 and 6 means that by the time she moves to the senior school your daughter will understand scientific methodology, refined her data collection and presentation skills, and feel comfortable using technical equipment in a science laboratory. |
